Indonesian lava stone is a very hard stone from Java. It is gained from a stone pit. Straight from the raw blocks, traditionally trained sculptors in central and east Java carve the sculptures in prime quality. Figures, busts and heads of Buddha, Shiva, Ganesha, Tara and Dewi Sri witness the lively influence of Buddhist and Hindu culture in Asia. Each piece is unique and shows the individual skill of the artist. Often it takes weeks until one piece is completed. This stone is frost-proof and can be put up outside.  |
